Fowey Harbour News
October 30th 2018
Despite most boats being out of the water for the winter, a small armada of boats left Fowey on Monday 29th October to wave farewell to HMS Montrose, Fowey’s affiliated Frigate, as she passed by the harbour.
The Harbour Commissioners’ tug and pilot cutter went out to pass on the best wishes of the communities of Fowey and Polruan to the ship as it starts its 3½ year deployment from the UK. To achieve this, the Royal Navy have created two ships crews which will alternate and include time in the UK for training and leave.
Along with those afloat, many people stood on the cliffs to wave her off on the first leg of her voyage which is to South America from there she will head into the Asia-Pacific region then on to the Gulf.
